Andy Leeka - Ten Years Cycling the United States

Andy Leeka is a healthcare executive with over two decades of experience who currently serves as president and COO of Angle Health, a medical insurance startup based in San Francisco, California. Outside of his work, Andy Leeka is passionate about skiing and cycling. Over the past ten years he has ridden across the US, covering 23 states.

Andy Leeka’s bicycle ride across the United States started from the Santa Monica pier in Los Angeles, California on November 26, 2011, and ended in Bar Harbor, Maine on October 6, 2020. The ride was broken into 12 stages, which together covered a total of 4,604 miles in 23 states.

To complete the ride while still working as a CEO at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles, Mr. Leeka would ride his bicycle for two to eight days from one destination to another, leave the bicycle in a storage unit, and then fly home to return to work until he could find time to continue the ride. By doing so, he managed to cover the entire continental United States without skipping any part of the journey. The ride took him from California through Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia, the District of Columbia, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire, before he arrived in Maine.
